Homemade Crystallised Rose Petals

Total Time: 3 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 3 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 20 -50 fresh rose petals
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • baking parchment paper or greaseproof paper

Recipe

  • 1 please note, in order to have this recipe posted, i had to put in quantities - they are approximate, depending on how many petals you are crystallising!
  • 2 use a fork to lightly beat the egg and use the paint brush to ensure all surfaces of the petal is then covered. use the tweezers to hold the petal.
  • 3 then dust the petal evenly with the sugar, place on the baking parchment/greaseproof paper so they are not touching and leave to dry in a warm room.
  • 4 it will take approx 2 hours to dry.
  • 5 store them in an airtight tin, in between greasepoof paper for up to 3-4 months.
  • 6 use the rose petals to decorate cakes, trifles and desserts.
  • 7 these make a wonderful gift also!
