Simply Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 6 apples
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter (one stick, soft)
- 5 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
Recipe
- 1 wash apples and cut into 1/8 slices.
- 2 cover and simmer in a medium sauce pan for 10 minutes with 2 tbsp of water over medium heat.
- 3 dissolve 1 tsp of cornstarch with 1 tbsp of water.
- 4 add the cornstarch mixture to the apple slices with the sugar and cinnamon. stir over heat for 5 more minutes, until sugar is dissolved and the liquid is thickened and bubbly. set aside.
- 5 for the crust, in a large bowl mix together flour and salt.
- 6 cut in the butter, mixing well with a fork until crumbs form (don't use a spoon, it won't turn out as well).
- 7 add the water, one tbsp at a time until the crumbs start forming together.
- 8 turn ontil a lightly floured surface and shape the dough into two balls. roll each ball out into a circle, about 10-12 inches.
- 9 press one of the circles into a 9 inch pie pan, add the filling, and place the second dough circle on top, pinching and trimming the edges to seal.
- 10 cut 2-4 slits around the middle of the pie to vent, and sprinkle the sugar on top to garnish. bake in a preheated oven at 325°f for 45 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
