Marble Eggs

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons chinese black tea
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups boiling water

Recipe

  • 1 boil eggs for 10 minutes.
  • 2 soak eggs in cold water until cold.
  • 3 crack the eggs shells-do not shell; set aside while preparing sauce.
  • 4 pour boiling water into chinese black tea; let stand for 5 minutes.
  • 5 pour tea into a saucepan (straining out tea leaves); add soy sauce, star anise, and salt to tea; add eggs and boil in mixture for 20 minutes.
  • 6 remove shells; serve cold.
