Oven-baked French Toast

Total Time: 9 hrs 5 mins Preparation Time: 8 hrs 30 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 slices french bread (1/2 inch)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup pecans (chopped)
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 (12 ounce) bottle pancake syrup
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract

Recipe

  • 1 arrange bread slices in a single layer, with sides touching, in a greased jellyroll pan.
  • 2 sprinkle raisins and pecans over bread.
  • 3 in a medium bowl, whisk eggs, half and half, liqueur, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
  • 4 pour egg mixture over bread.
  • 5 cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
  • 6 preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 7 uncover and bake french toast 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean and toast is light brown.
  • 8 to make orange syrup, combine syrup and orang extract and heat until hot.
  • 9 to serve, dust with confectioners sugar or pour orange syrup over slices of toast.
