Oven-baked French Toast

Ingredients
- 8 slices french bread (1/2 inch)
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup pecans (chopped)
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 (12 ounce) bottle pancake syrup
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
Recipe
- 1 arrange bread slices in a single layer, with sides touching, in a greased jellyroll pan.
- 2 sprinkle raisins and pecans over bread.
- 3 in a medium bowl, whisk eggs, half and half, liqueur, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
- 4 pour egg mixture over bread.
- 5 cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
- 6 preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- 7 uncover and bake french toast 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean and toast is light brown.
- 8 to make orange syrup, combine syrup and orang extract and heat until hot.
- 9 to serve, dust with confectioners sugar or pour orange syrup over slices of toast.
