Chinese Tomato Salad

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 shallot, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or more, to taste)
  • 3 medium tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons nuoc nam
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 in a bowl, toss the sliced shallots with 1 tsp of the sugar and a pinch of the salt. stir and let stand for 5 minutes. core the tomatoes and slice into wedges.
  • 2 in another bowl, mix together the cider vinegar and nuoc nam with the remaining 2 tsp of sugar and the remaining salt. in a large bowl, toss the tomatoes with the cider vinegar mixture and wilted shallots. sprinkle the chopped cilantro on top and serve.
